How to maintain a coated (or uncoated) car

A coating or sealant lasts longest when it's washed gently and topped up now and then. These two products cover a simple routine for Canadian roads.

A simple routine

Rinse off loose grit, wash with the two-bucket method and a pH-neutral shampoo, dry with a clean microfibre towel, then mist on the spray coating panel by panel and buff off. In winter, rinse salt off the lower panels and wheels between full washes.

Maintenance kits: common questions

Why does pH-neutral shampoo matter?

Strong alkaline or acidic cleaners can weaken waxes, sealants and coatings over time. A pH-neutral shampoo removes everyday dirt while leaving that protection in place. Read more: How car wash shampoo works without damaging paint.

Can I use the spray coating on an uncoated car?

Yes. On bare or waxed paint it adds gloss and water beading on its own; on a coated car it tops up the existing layer.

Starting from scratch? Prepare the paint with our Preparation Kits, then protect it with a Ceramic Coating Kit.
